Eva Laser The Third Path.
I am pleased to share Eva Laser (Sweden)’s new text The Third Path.
It builds on a close reading of Moshe Feldenkrais’ Shichlul HaYecholet: Halacha u’Ma’aseh (the ATM book in Hebrew). The work explores how key Hebrew terms such as d’mut atzmenu, hafshata, and milulit open another order of understanding, different from the Western dualisms of theory and practice, body and psyche, or body and soul.
In the English translation by Michaeleen Kimmney (Awareness Through Movement, 1972), two of these words were reduced to “abstraction.” This not only flattens the nuance but obscures the functional distinction that Feldenkrais himself insisted on. The Hebrew text shows that hafshata and milulit are not abstractions at all, but concrete functions that reveal form and meaning in action.
The text invites the reader to approach Feldenkrais’ ideas as a path where language, action, and direction form a living whole.
